Spring At Stourhead
Apparently, it was here the warmest March 26th on record, and we had the good fortune to spend it on the Stourhead estate, a National Trust property in the village of Stourton, Wiltshire.
We had a picnic among the daffodils above this Palladian bridge, followed by a leisurely stroll around the lakes. It was very active on the water, with moorhens, coots, Canada geese, a pair of swans, tufted duck, mallard and great crested grebes all serenely busy. Among the camelias, magnolias and rhododendrons we spotted the earliest flowering snakeshead fritillary I have ever seen.
My first ever blip was on 26 March 2010.
