AHT Primus

This is the German tug 'Primus', a shameless copy of our own tug. In the background you see the material barge H-404 (yes, 400 ft long). Together with the 'Primus' we moored this barge on the stern of the Hermod yesterday. The 'Primus' has all the specs you need for efficient manoeuvring and anchorhandling. Forget all these 100 meter anchorhandlers with superstructures like the Empire State building. What you need is a relative short, sturdy and powerful tug. Long and high vessels are slow in manoeuvring and turning. They catch a lot of wind as well. In case of the 'Primus' they made only one mistake; she is a little bit too small. The design is OK, but that's hardly a surprise since it was almost copied from our vessel.
