Turning Point

Flying by the seat of our pants!

My list of 'things to do' before leaving for Cape Town was so long that I set my alarm for 5am - and not a moment too soon, let me tell thee! After a whirlwind morning, dealing with a rag trader at GP's house, cancelling orders, surveying the builder's stour....., I set off to collect Hamish from school, less prepared than ever before. I had literally chucked things into the back of the car to pack at the airport if there was time later. Thank goodness, Hamish was standing outside the school gates (breaking the six inch rule) ready to be whisked off.

We checked-in at the very last minute and I was able to breath a huge sigh of relief after mentally ticking off the tasks that I needed to complete, including park the car, pack (!), and remember to duck-tape the key under the car for Ian to collect. HURRAH!

This photo was taken as we rushed to the boarding gate at Heathrow. It has been another hot and sunny day, and I liked the shafts of golden light projected onto the ceiling.

I settled down into a seat between two 50-something women on-board the flight. They were both exceptionally nice and we chatted for a while to discover many connections. I seldom converse during flights, as I consider it time to catch up with reading, films and sleep. I opened a book which has been at the top of a pile on my bed-side-table for months. It is called 'The Second Half of Your Life' by Jill Shaw Ruddock - as I turned the pages, the past few months simply fell into place.......
