Mors Janua Vitae

"Death is the gate to life."

Greyfriars Kirkyard in Edinburgh was opened in 1561. The Town Council record says:

Because it is thought correct that there should be no more burials within the church , and because that kirkyard is not thought to have sufficient room for burying the dead, and taking into consideration the smell and inconvenience in the heat of summer, it would be provided that a burial place be made further from the middle of town, such as in Greyfriars yard, and the same built up and made secure.

The Kirkyard is full of atmospheric corners like this - and has reputedly a very angry and active ghost!

My, have I really pursued a hobby through 700 consecutive days?
