The business end of the grey water collecting system. A pipe from the drains in the ceiling goes through the wall at high level, runs along outside the house to the end of the wall and then down to the fence and then twelve metres or so down the garden to this point just past the pergola.

I've never solved the problem of what to grow on the shady side of the pergola - as you can see vegetation's a bit sparse.

The butt was pretty much the only one available in Romford - maybe the up-coming hosepipe ban has got everyone doing the same as me?

Tonight I tried out the system and it all seems to be working and leak free. I'm going to put an overflow so that if all of us shower without anyone watering the garden the water can be sent off somewhere where at least it will do some good
