spring bud...

...on the bridal wreath bush

so i'm not feeling great today... bad head and all... decide to stay home even though it's gorgeous outside - clearly a summer day in spring... i venture out to see if the bridal wreath is blooming yet - nope... still just budding - but as we know - buds are beautiful in and of themselves... so i start snapping away to see what i might get - of course, the wind comes up - i figure nothing will be in focus... don't really care as long as i get a decent shot off...

i notice a man walking along the street - he goes by the house staring at me... i sort of stare back, but nod my head - i don't want to be totally rude... shortly - he returns... still staring at me - i become very uncomfortable... no neighbors are out - boo! why does this keep happening to me? he has a walking stick or cane of some sort so i keep my distance as he comes closer to me to ask a question... it's about why i'm taking pictures - of a supposed bare bush... i laugh trying to explain it's not bare - it's full of tiny buds - waiting to spring forth with beautiful blossoms... it's a bridal wreath bush after all... he said "well, most people wait to take their pictures... until it's in full bloom." i told him i wasn't most people - enjoyed the progress - found beauty in all kinds of nature from beginning to end... he shook his head not understanding - questioned me some more trying to "get it" about the buds... finally i told him i thought it was probably my perspective in seeing - how i approached things... i told him to look around - notice how the trees now are so very green - as the season moves along, they will become a deeper green, not so bright anymore... he said he's never noticed that, then said he needed to finish his walk, get back to where they were working on his car. i told him to look around while he walked, take note... i wasn't surprised he simply stared at me!

i went back to my bridal wreath - got a decent bud as you can see here - not the greatest of focus due to the wind... but i don't care, because it represents life - new birth and that's what i was aiming for today... as i sauntered back inside, i spotted a bright yellow dandelion - the first of the season... i'll be - seems awful early for them but there it was brightening the dull grass - now doesn't that just make for...

a

happy day.....
