Well we've travelled afar today!

We went to the New Zealand Grand Prix this morning.
(okay, we watched it on a big screen, whilst having a lovely cooked breakfast[/i)] at The Black Bull Bar in Mid Calder.

Then at tea time-ish, we headed south, to Berwick to watch the Edinburgh Monarchs race against the Berwick Bandits and see for the first time their new safety fence, which cost the Berwick promotion £50,000, the fans and riders all helped with raising the necessary funds.

When you're racing a 500cc bike, with no brakes, at 70mph and you fall off. Then hitting an unforgiving wooden fence, is just adding insult to injury.

Fortunately, it wasn't put to much use tonight.

The racing was good and we even held the lead up until the half way stage but the Bandits managed to steal their way back to the front and there they stayed until the end!

Final result: 50-39 not too bad. Certainly not the drubbing that many expected and there's still all to play for, as the 2nd leg will take place at Armadale in July.

We spoke to some of our team afterwards and wished them well for their next meeting.
