Bodnant

Today's the day ............................... to walk round the garden

I went to a garden today that I have wanted to visit for a long time - Bodnant Garden just south of Conway in North Wales.

Anyone who likes gardening and garden plants would be interested in going there. Not only is it a wonderful garden to visit, it also has a long history of plant collecting and plant breeding and you find the name Bodnant in a fair amount of garden plant species - like Viburnum bodnantense.

The gardens were given to the National Trust in 1949 by Henry McLaren, 2nd Baron Aberconway and are still managed today by his descendents. They cover some 80 acres with panoramic views across to the mountains of Snowdonia.

This is the view from the top of the garden down the steep sided banks covered with rhododendrons azaleas, camellias and magnolias to the Old Mill in the Dell .................l
