Alice in Not-So-Wonderland

On the left is Alice's (the place I talked about yesterday). Beloved of those in Christchurch who want a video selection wider than what you'd find in any service station or video shop - art house movies, old movies, old TV shows, musicals etc.

How it stood up to the Feb quake when you see the buildings in the photo on the right which are about 100m away is a wonder in itself! The grey one is Art Deco so I guess of similar age to the Alice one. Just luck I guess.

And so, Alice stands in the not-so-wonderland that surrounds it. Derelict buildings awaiting demolition or a decision and huge empty spaces that were once restaurants, bike shops, music stores, massage parlours, hair dressers and an expensive fashion quarter that is no more. Watch this space though!
