Evil weevil

The dreaded Red Palm Weevil, wreaks havoc on the palm trees, burrows into the trunk, lays its eggs, and the young then feed off the inside of the tree and eventually the tree dies. It has descimated large areas of palm trees in Spain. Found this one outside our gate, so put it in a jar and sprayed it, waiting for it to die, all the little 'blobs' are its eggs. Fortunately we have not lost any of our palm trees, as the gardners realised we had a problem and started spaying the trees with a special insecticide, which appears to be working.
