Lorikeet Love
I swear I did'nt know what these two birds were up to when I took this photo. I took about half a dozen shots and was non the wiser till I downloaded and viewed them in Bridge.
Up close the female has a rather surprised look on her face.
Then again, it is spring here. The bees will be next.
I was on my way home from the motorcycle exhaust specialist (wasting yet more money on my bike) when I drove past this tree. Has been chainsawed some time back, leaving the hollows exposed. Many of our native birds nest in hollows like the ones on this tree and as I pulled up on the side of the road I could see that this one had been taken over by Lorikeets. For those of you that don't know, Lorikeets area nectar eating species of parrot common in Eastern Australia. They make a lot of noise.
Anyway, I wandered around the tree snapping birds emerging from hollows but when I looked at the results I was a little disappointed to see that my 350D's autofocus was off the mark as usual. This was the best of a bad bunch. It is actually as sharp as it gets with a cheap zoom lens.
I might go back and try again another day.
