Another Blustery Day
We headed out this morning bright and early for another weekend of soccer. Only it wasn't so bright...ugly weather was looming. Liam's game was first and he scored 2 goals!!! He wasn't goalie at all today and so he got to be out on the field running around...something that I particularly like to watch. The rain held out through Liam's entire game but started up 3/4 of the way through Landon's game...where Landon ALSO scored 2 goals! Poor Loren was signed up to ref a U12 girls game. The wind blew fierce and the rain came down hard, until he was shivering all over. This is when Gary headed back over to the game he was reffing with his big golf umbrella. There was Gary, holding it over Loren's head, running up and down the field with him. I got a bit teary eyed thinking 'what a dad!' When it was over, I asked if Loren was embarrassed and he said he wasn't, that he actually felt bad that the center ref didn't have a dad with an umbrella over her head. We turned up the heat in the van to high and rushed home to have Loren change into his game clothes and to heat his core with some hot cocoa. With minutes left to spare, we headed back to a different complex for Loren's game...which they won 3-0. We ended today with....3 wins, lots of wet and muddy clothes, muddy rainboots and raincoats, a muddy van, a broken EZ Up awning, cold bodies and a family looking forward to a warm, dry house.
(yes, I chose to include my 'scary hair' photo from today of what wind and rain can do to a soccer mom with long hair. Enjoy!)
