The Grapes. East Calder.

The Grapes is a well known East Calder hostelry established 1895 on the main road to Edinburgh. This was once a mining village with the shale industry at Oakbank whose shale bing (tip) has been landscaped and Oakbank village is no more. Now there are many new houses built for commuters to the surrounding towns.
