Gatehouse.

This little house guards the old main entrance to the long drive to Calder House for the horse carriages. The Gate leads off Bank Street and at one time the driveway would have swung round in a half circle and crossed over a bridge with the road from the village running beneath. ( now -between the cemetary and the primary school) This was known locally as the 'Dry Brig'. It was removed at a later date to allow large motor vehicles and buses to use the road past the Kirk.
