Cork asylum

I spent the a fair part of the day shopping in Cork for the wedding outfit. Mission accomplished, I think! There was no lycra, no parka's, no wetsuits in my size/shape/colour, so I went for a very funky warm jacket, smart linen trousers, matching scarf and patterned wellies (for the outdoor part of the ceremony/activities).
The day started with lashing cold rain, but progressed to a cold, crisp sunny afternoon for the drive back to Schull. The sky was bursting through the clouds as I came out of the West side of the city.
This is St Anne's Hospital, built in 1789, Cork City's first lunatic asylum. It's situated high up on the banks of the River Lee in Sunday's Well (the swanky part of the city with fab views). It was derelict for many years and was converted into private apartments in 2008. A mixture of Morticia Adams and ECT!!! Not my cup of tea. Looks very tricky to keep warm too!
Mike's sister and her family arrived today for a weeks holiday. There will be lots of laughing, eating, wedding talk and cycling.....that'll be everyday not just the first day! They're great fun and lovely interesting people and we're both delighted that they've come to stay.
