Dear Heart,
The five Davies children cooked beef bourguignon this afternoon. All day we weaved around one another in the kitchen, chopping fruit for the salad and cracking eggs for Tilly's Maids of Honour. (They're little pastries with strawberry jam or Nutella in their bellies.) Mum and Dad were thrilled.
We lined the edges of the fancy glasses with sugar, lit candles and chilled drinks as if it were a special occasion. It wasn't. Not until we made it one, anyway.
