Cape Clear North Harbour

Mike, Yola and I got the 11.00 ferry from Balitmore for a 45 minute journey to Cape Clear to join the visiting in laws on their Cape Clear section of their holiday. The Siberian wind of Wednesday had gone and the sea was the correct amount of flatness to suit my needs! The ferry was piled high with provisions ranging from 20 sliced pans (loaves of bread) to new curtains & chairs.
We spent 4 hours exploring the island, having lunch, scrambling around on the rocks and talking a walk up to the light house.
The island was quiet and gentle with that delicious slow pace of life that small islands develop. The few island cars that there are poodle around at an extremely leisurely pace, partly because the roads are so tiny, steep and winding, but also because they are mostly held together with rope and duct tape! There's no NCT (MOT)requirements so anything that goes, goes.
The visit flew by and we didn't want to leave, but there was only ferry back and we had to be on it.
Dinner was at Graham's in Coomhola. We had a leisurely stroll around his garden with a lovely setting sun to admire while the rice burnt! Too much chatting, too much to look at and too much beer in hand!. Dinner was very good and the rice was well rescued
