Winds!!

So this is the tree that about attacked me Sunday! Hurricane Ike rolled through my state with a bang! Wow! It must have hit flat land and got stronger.

I ventured downtown to capture a few shots from Via Colori - nobody was there - I didnt get it. It was a little windy - but I had no clue what was coming our way - I dont watch much TV. Finally I overheard ppl. saying that they needed to hurry and get home - because of the hurricane...ohh it came in w/in minutes.

I was stuck on the road w/ 70 to 80 mph winds. There were trees literally flying everywhere - people getting blown over. Trees uprooted, power lines down - all w/ in a half hour. I was driving home when this particular tree about landed in front of me - just missed it. I went back and took a shot of it.

Took me a while to get home - power was out all over the city - its amazing how many people dont know how to treat intersections when the power is out - 4 WAY STOP PEOPLE!! I just wanted to get home.

Got in - opened the garage door manually due to the power outage - couldnt figure out how to lock it, so I just let it go. It was insane - the sound of the wind was like nothing I've heard before.

It was a long long night. Power pole snapped in half close to where I work - so we lost power...not fun when you are a critical 24/7 operation center!
