Damage...
Still no power on Monday for the city - our local power company sent down a crew to Texas to help out w/ the hurricane down there - so they had no man power up here. Schools were closed as well.
Went over my parents to see if they had power - they did!! I took a quick shower to freshen up - felt so much better! They lost both trees in their backyard - just snapped in half. They were upset - but no damages. Next door neighbor had a tree fall into his front part of the house - such a mess.
I was starving! Decided to get out and try to find a restaurant - drove around for about 2 hours and found nothing - 3 places were open, but they had 2+ hr wait. I drove through the park downtown and wow, what a mess - trees uprooted sidewalks - 100+ year old trees just wasted. Kind of sad - our city looked horrible. Couldnt even get gas - there were only a handful of gas stations that had power - the lines were so long.
I spotted my favorite Greek restaurant and parking right up front - so I parked and ran inside...had a delish meal and chatted w/ the waiter a bit. Had the chance to catch up w/ coworkers and figure out what was going on at work - nothing much - phones were dead, power was out...but our guys were working remotely and we had our phones forwarded - no major impact - estimated time of fix for the pole that snapped in half by my work - 4 days! Worked a little on the blackberry - returned emails, phone calls, etc.
Got home - power came on for a total of five minutes, I got all excited...then it was out again...relaxed for the night...spent some time reading...
