A house without books...

...is like a room without windows, some dude said some time in the past.

This is my kid looking out from the 6th Floor of Senate House, in the library, one of my favourite buildings in London, and one of my top libraries to use too.

The kid was super excited about getting to look out of the windows, and we had a little (loud) whisper chat about the merits of looking through a square, semi-circle, oblong window, and then went crazy over big or small.

We decided on the nearest, the stairs are a bugger in that place.

I love the smell of books, and I now have no shame in burying my nose in and having a good old sniff wherever I am - bus, train, library, shop...

This, I think, is one of the great things about getting old, (and becoming ever more the removed individual due to increased levels of research)...I really am not hugely bothered about the bemused looks strangers give me. My family, bless them, have bigger things to worry about me than my book sniffing
