Walk to Bronte
The weather was sunny today but not quite warm enough and way too windy for hanging about on the beach so we decided to do the coastal walk to Bronte. To my pleasant surprise we did it back too (7k for the record) - just to show how unpredictable kids can be. Must be the infectiousness of being around so many folks exercising. I caught the bug early in the morning and went for a small jog along the beach at 6.30am. Haven't really done any running for a few years so no great exertions but it was quite an experience to see just how packed out the beach was at that time of the morning with swimmers, surfers, joggers, bootcamps, taekwondo and a group pulling each other along the sand using ropes. Way busier than it was when we set out for our walk around 9.30am and presumably all the Sydneysiders had gone to work. Frankly with that level of commitment to exercise I think they deserve to win the whole Olympics!
The three other splendid highlights of the day were lunch at Mongers - excellent fish and (according to the Sydney Morning Herald) apparently Sydney's number one chip; playing cards in the lounge at the Icebergs winter swimming club and rib dinner at Hurricane Grill.
Of course it could just be that they need to exercise so much to deal with all the fabulous food on offer...
