Green Alcanet

Today it is dull and grey with some odd intervals of sunshine; it looks as though it will rain before too long.

Today's blip hunt was a quick trip round the garden between marking scripts and speaking with students.

I decided to blip this Green Alkanet flower, (Pentaglottis sempervirens) sometimes called Evergreen Bugloss, it is often confused with Forget-me-not; it likes damp, shady places, woods and hedgerows. The leaves are rough and hairy and the flowers are made up of five blue petals joined at a white centre. The flowers are edible, but are generally only used for decoration in drinks and salads.
