Greek Orthodox Monastery
This is a chandelier hanging in St. Anthony's Church, where daily services are usually held for the over forty monks and novices at the St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Monastery in Florence, Arizona. There are also four other chapels on the grounds where services are sometimes held.
The monastery is designed in traditional Byzantine style/architecture and almost everything has been imported from Greece.
The sprawling grounds were luxurious, brimming with flowers and landscaping of all sorts including beautiful fountains. There were also orchards and a vineyard.
Women had to wear skirts to the ankles, long sleeves, covered feet (no sandals without socks) and head scarves. Men got off easy. They just had to wear long pants. I had to put a skirt on over the skirt I brought because mine was too shear. But then I saw some men wearing shorts, so I guess the monks aren't very enlightened.
