top o' skiddaw

One of this year's projects is to do all of Wainwright's Northern Fells. Five done today - Ullock Pike, Skiddaw, Skiddaw Little Man , Carl Side and Dodd. Lovely sunny weather all day.

When Wainwright researched his book in the early 60's, he wrote that, apart from on Skiddaw and Blencathra, he never met a single person."No crowds to dodge, no noisy chatter, no litter". Well, it's a bit busier up there nowadays.

I'm off to Borrowdale Youth Hostel now for a meal and a rest. More walking to look forward to tomorrow...
