Doesn't look like much
but it's Mars.
The sky gods were favouring me this evening and gave me two hours uninterrupted viewing which allowed me to tick off 23 items from the BBC Sky at Night "Moore Marathon" - 55 items to view in the night sky in April as part of the celebrations of 55 years of the Sky at Night TV programme.
The telescope is still outside, tracking Saturn, but currently cloud is covering the view. However, the cloud is moving away, so I am leaving it there for a while, just to see if I can get an image of it before bedtime.
In a moment of sheer geekiness, whilst processing another image I realised that I had managed to capture 2 galaxies - M81 - Bodes Galaxy (which was what I was trying to get) and M82 - the Cigar galaxy ...it's a rubbish image, but now I know where they are and what I am looking for, you can bet that I am going to try again.
And yes, I have submitted my April moon shots (from 1st and 5th) to the group - am hoping to see my picture on the programme on 24th April. Figure I won't but occasionally, I do find some hope!
Off to check the weather.
Night peeps.
