fire power
the little pseudo-summer of a few weeks ago has thankfully given way to a proper April of mixed up weather that's mainly unpredictable in its mixed-up-ness. The horrible cold is aided by the fact that our heating is f*cked....we have a wood-fired central heating. A range in the kitchen heats a big tank of water which is then pumped around the house taking warmth wherever it goes. However, this system has been losing water in the last few days at an alarming rate (thankfully in the cellar where it can drain away and NOT in the house). So much so that I dreamt that I was being flushed down the toilet last night, due to all the gurgling and running water sounds going on. So, we can't use our heating right now. We have one cosy room where this fire is and, otherwise, it's a bit nippy. But I'm sure it's good for our souls and the environment and stuff. There's no stopping we. We will survive this bit of cold just as we survived everything else :-)
Heating man will come on Monday and no doubt, will subsequently present us with an enormous bill....
