Omelette Pascale
Today was the day of the Easter egg hunt and Easter omelette. I am not sure why this should be the week after Easter; possibly it is regarded as a Spring festival rather than something associated directly with Easter. It was cool and drizzly so held under cover. The egg hunt was a non event as there were few children around and we were a little surprised when goody bags were dumped on our table in the cafe containing eggs, sweets and bunnies!. The omelette contained pieces of peach and pear which was also surprising but not unpleasant. The best bit was the 'Bras de Venus' which is a Catalan cake recipe for a Swiss role as long as the missing arm of the Venus de Milo statue. It is a roulade of very light sponge, bakers' custard and candied fruit - very nice.
