Pic de la Pena
There was even a little bit of snow on the top of Pena this morning (1000 metres). Everything above that height was covered with a fair dump. I heard on the news that the road to Andorra was shut this morning which is very unusual at this time of the year. They say that if you can walk up Pena in less than 45 minutes then you can climb Canigou in a day. The former is a pleasant steep walk but not without its hazards. My neighbour, a seasoned walker, broke his leg coming down last week. Climbing up and down Canigou in a day requires a good level of fitness. The best runners do it in three hours in the summer (30 mms and 2100 metres of ascent) in the international race.
