Some Days

Green Green Grass

The greenkeepers have been working overtime at Archerfield, East Lothian, in preparation for the Ladies Scottish Open next month.

The work takes a bit of courage; everything they have done to the course recently has made it look worse, but now it is starting to look beautiful.

Big is beautiful

They tell me that as a links course the tees and greens are not supposed to be brilliant green colour, but should reflect the high fescue content with a more yellow tinge. The PGA however want everything looking like the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz.

I am thinking that after pruning the lavender and santolina into hummocks, I may have to comb that phormium into the shape of Augusta rhododendrons!
