Deadly neighbour

This Trident sub, spotted from our window as it headed down the Firth of Clyde, encapsulates much of my life's preoccupation with anti-nuclear action - a preoccupation that only burst on me when we moved to Dunoon and realised the size of the nuclear arsenal on our doorstep (or windowsill). Now there is no longer a US sub base in Holy Loch, there are fewer subs, but it still chills me to see this sight and reflect that nowhere else in the UK is there such an installation.

I shall wait in hope of an independent and nuclear-weapons-free Scotland.
