~Gila Woodpecker At Sunset~

~In A Saguaro Cactus~

This cactus was about 25 or 30 feet tall.
All those arms are from the one cactus.
From my cactus knowledge, it's very old.
I might guess at about 250-300 years old.
These Gila Woodpeckers live in them.
They burrow holes in the sides of the cactus.
I found this specimen in Honeybee Canyon.
Had a great hike, despite the 100º temperatures.
And this was the final photograph of the day.
Could have taken more, with plenty of light left.
But sometimes you just know you got the image you wanted.

Thanks for looking in!
