Beavertail Bloom
This little flower, covered in pollen, is the first from my beavertail cactus. The cactus gets it's name from the shape of its pads which look like....beaver tails.
It is the most common type of prickly pear cactus. They are virtually everywhere. I have two, but neither is very healthy. The have been damaged by freezing temperatures and spend much of the time in the shade - an error on the part of the person who planted the cuttings for me.
I only have a few buds this year so I don't expect many flowers from this one and none from the other (again). Rather disappointing since they are different from the grizzly flower.
