Boing- GI2012
Today I had Alfie-time. The aim was to blow his mind by taking him to Sacrilege on Glasgow Green. Essentially, it's an inflatable Stone Henge to bounce on. It's not aimed specifically for kids, it's bouncing time for everyone.
It is ACE. It's so big and the numbers are managed really well so there's plenty of room and time. It is much harder work than you think bouncing but it was bloody great fun.
We recovered in the cafe in the Winter Palace and planned the rest of the afternoon.
A taxi up to Dialogue of Hands at City of Glasgow College which was disappointing. Some of the work is lovely and engaging but overall it lacks any oomph and the 'immersive, sensory environment' doesn't exist.
The carrot of Hamleys was dangled to encourage walking and en route we went into the Karla Black show at GOMA. I had already seen the show and I love it. It's so fragile but so solid and the desire to touch it is immense. I wasn't sure how a curious 3 year old would react but he was great and in the resource area he was delighted with the loose sawdust.
A wind up space ship was chosen in Hamleys and then we headed home on the bus. Not sure who was more tired at the end of it and I hope Alfie had as much as fun as I did.
