Drama in the Pond!

Well it was a pretty laid back sunday here....until!!!!

Around 6.15pm....while i was on a call with a good friend in Ontario....Terry appeared dragging Zoe into the house...soaking wet! Apparently both Zoe and Sherlock had trapped a beaver in the pond and were going after it....from both sides! Luckily Terry managed to get at least one dog out of the pond....but good old Sherlock....kinda like the energizer bunny....he kept on going, and going...and going.....for about an hour and 45 minutes! You could see the beaver was also tiring, but poor old Sherlock.....he's about 13 years old, a bit overweight.....and i was totally amazed at his tenacity and stamina! Terry and I both tried to coax him out of the pond....this is a dog that will do almost anything for food.....his belly is his number 1 priority! but not this time! at one point, both of us were standing on the dock in the pond
holding pieces of bacon, trying to seduce him out of the water! we were getting quite worried, cos he showed no signs of giving up! Eventually, around 7.30pm i headed up to the house to begin our dinner with the hope that before it got dark Sherlock would succum to exhaustion! and he did.....about 10 minutes later, Terry came in with a very shakey, wet and cold Sherlock! After drying him off a bit.....we put a blanket in front of the fire, gave him some warm milk and sugar...and hopefully he'll recover pretty soon after his amazing ordeal! What a dog!

Dinner is almost ready, so i'm off to the kitchen!!!
