Dave Saville's Tribute gig - a very special night
This was a very special gig for the memory of Dave Saville and this is him
playing in a previous gig with Dave Lee. Dave S is the one in the light suit sitting and playing his cornet. This was a gathering of many talented jazz players that Dave S had played with over the years and for me it was a great joy but somewhat strange because I had seen and even painted most of these before but never together like this. It had been organised by Roy Cansdale playing here on double bass. Dave S had also played in the Flookborough Brass Band and they gave a fantastic display of brassmanship in the second half.
Dave S died from cancer at St Mary's Hospice, Ulverston and the proceeds of the gig was for this Hospice which provided a very comfortable and friendly home for Dave. The last jazz number was " Do not talk about me when I am gone" - is onyoutubebut I think Dave will be talked about quite a lot for years to come - he had lots of stories to tell and there are lots of stories about him!
