It is Friday!

This is Tim Franks on drums last night at Burgundy's Wine Bar in Kendal. Drummers are quite a challenge to paint as they are generally tucked in at the back behind the fronting sax, trumpet, cornet and clarinet players. I had previously been inspired with sketching his small head next to the massive Dave Turner double base . I tried again to sketch him but he was just too far away to capture the detail apart from his distinctive vest . But last night was much better - a clear view of him in full concentration on his drumming, checking frequently with his gigging mates that they are on the same wavelength and with a rather beaming smile that oozes sheer enjoyment. Tim now appears frequently in gigs across the the northwest and you can listen to him at a Manchester gig . He is the little guy in a black vest at the back!!

I was also in a good position last night with my pint of Burgundy's very own Silver Tanner brew, to do a sketch of Dave Turner who was on base guitar last night instead of his usual double base - and a great sound too. Maybe that's why I could get a better view of Tim!!!!

And last night the beautiful Irish Siobhan, the only one I have sketched in the audience bought her original sketch. My pencil could not resist the beauty of those facial curves!
