Empty Nest

Last year I found the dessicated remains of the previous years swallows chicks that had been througn out of the nest under our eaves by the sparrows who'd moved in the year after. This year I find this on the grass after the swallows two year old mud structure had collapsed leaving the carefully collected ensemble of straw, feathers, moss and cat hair they had brought their chicks up on last year.

As far as I know it had been unoccupied this year.
