Brandenburger Tor
The Berlin wall passed very close to the Brandenburg Gate and the statue on the top was turned round to face the other way during the time the wall divided the city. Despite all the crowds, it's quite an iconic sight in the daytime and much quieter at night. Any tips on night photography welcome ( I didn't take a tripod, as you can see)
we had hoped to go up the Reichstag dome and see the lights of Berlin, but you have to book about 3 days in advance, so that didn't happen.
Having visited Berlin a few times now, I've seen a lot of the major sights - and am still a bit post operatively tired so we spent a quietish day. We visited the Turkish market which runs alongside the canal. On weekdays it's a beautiful fresh produce market but at weekends there are lots of craft items for sale, and very good value fabric and trimming stalls. I was restrained - only enough fabric for one skirt and no trimmings!
