she was a good hen

So, one of our hens died yesterday. She'd been ill for a while, so it wasn't a surprise, and while she wasn't very perky the last few days she didn't seem to be in any discomfort (thought it's incredibly difficult to tell with hens...)

Anyway, this is her cremation pyre,this evening. It's not the most attractive, but we couldn't use the usual bonfire heap because of all the rain we've been having lately.

So long, Ginger, you were a good hen. You made me laugh.
