Going Dark...

The Focus Theatre,

As the title implies, the Focus will close its doors on Thursday 26th. With only 50 seats, the real wonder is how it has stayed open for around 40 years...

But the Arts Council have turned off the tap, the roof leaks, there's no heating - summer season only - and no disabled access. At least the company will continue as a touring group.

Only ever in it once, to see the Ronan Guildoyle Trio with Louis Stewart. My main memory is the extremely long interval, as the band wouldn't come back out until a minion had been sent down Lesson Street to Hourican's and returned with 4 pints of Guinness!

Still a pity to see another victim of the recession...
