Secret Garden...
Ewan's nursery were invited by one of the parents to go visit their new chicks at their house. I sort of imagined that we were heading to a farm somewhere close to the school but it turned out to be in the oddest unlikely place.
We turned into the street that is more or less in the centre of our town and walked down to the unassuming house in the middle of the street. Headed round the house to the back garden and it was quite a large garden but then it just kept going and going. The owners had bought a piece of wasteland that lay in a triangle of land that sits behind three small streets. It was sold to them on the premise that it not be built upon to generate profit and they have done a wonderful job. They've got rows and rows of fresh vegetable patches and about 30 odd chickens of many varied species and age from elderly 5 year olds to chicks at just a couple of weeks old.
This was one of a few chickens that were lying in the coop sitting on eggs. They hardly flinched as I got right up to them. It was a brilliant morning.
