a land fit for heroes
I have taken so many photos today!
This one is nice and simple, but it speaks to me about what it might mean to be Hungarian.
Geza took Adrian and I to Heroes Square, a vast place full of statues and surrounded by classical architecture. He told us how in 1989, the young Prime Minister of Hungary stood here and made a speech about the end of Communist Rule. Today, the sun was low in the sky and the square was full of young people rollerskating and enjoying life.
The red ball seemed to me to represent fun, freedom and hopefully not the kind of patriotism which starts wars but a simple pride in the good things about our two countries, Hungary and Scotland, which we are happy to share with eachother.
Tomorrow is the EcoCongregation conference, so I must go and prepare my talk.
More tomorrow....
