The beginning of summer?

Once we put our tomato canes up in the garden I start to believe that summer and its crops will come. We have about 50* tomato plants in pots under cover on the balconies and soon they'll grow too big and will need to be planted out in the garden, so today we put up the canes for the first 16 plants. This image shows the usual division of labour in the garden - LoJ doing the work while I take the photos, but I did do some of the work too.

* This may seem a lot of tomato plants, but it's fewer than we grew last year and we do make tomato paste and sauce to bottle and use all through the year.
