Life, not as we see it.

By GOT

The duck didn't stand a chance!

When we got up at 7:30, thinking it was 8:30, we considered having a real blast around Beijing somehow. We considered it but that's as far as we got. Instead, we had a short walk to a lake nearby, visited the Bell Tower - what a swick, £3 each for a flight of stairs, a swatch at a bloody great bell and a wheech round a Tea Service showroom. Some beautiful porcelain, at beautiful prices - for the seller that is.

Then it was off down into the bowels of the earth onto the Metro to find a specific eatery recommended by Rough Guide for Peking Duck. Sue had the best prawns ever, accompanied by some veggie pancakes, all of which I shared in, as it took just on 1 hour for the duck to appear. It was good, but I've had better in Auld Reekie. Strange!

More Metro and walking saw us round the posh shopping area - No purchases - and back to our hotel to start packing. The most "Chinese" part of that journey was fighting our way along the shopping street which leads to ours. It is about 12 Ft wide with shops and food stalls on both sides, stuffed full with bikes, trikes, scooters (both silent electric and megaphoned petrol driven) plus pedestrians and animals. And still some nutters insist on driving through the Huton in Chelsea Tractors.

Back at the ranch, it's time to pack everything for the last time, get some sustenance and last minute geegaws, and retire for a final nights un-rest in a strange bed.
Now looking forward to getting home and away from the relentless crowds of China, delightful as most individuals have been,is enough is enough.

Suspect there will not be any further Blips on this trip, so this is the last post, Da De Daaaa, Da De Daaaa, Da De Da Da De Da Da De Daaaa, Da De Daaa, Da De Daaa, Da Da Daaaaaaaaaaaa!

Thanks for watching. Trust you enjoyed it all and got even just a fraction of the pleasure the journey has given us. Memories are made of this.

Blipping has become a bit of a habit and may well continue as and when something good / bad / interesting happens, so don't go too far away.

Cheers,
G&S
