Spoons

I learned a new card game today, aside from a hugely confusing set of extra rules to Uno, which was good fun too. Here are the required elements - a pack of cards, good company and as many spoons as the number of players minus one. I was going to leave it at that, but have had a request for the rules: Each player is dealt 4 cards, and the aim of the game is to pass cards around until you have 4 cards the same (i.e. 4 fives or 4 kings etc). The person on the left of the dealer takes the top card from the left over pile, looks to see if they need it, if they do keeps it and discards one of their cards to their left hand neighbour, if not just discards the one they turned over. In either case as soon as they discard one, they pick up another, and another and so on, only ever holding 4 cards. The person next to them picks up what they have discarded and keeps/discards it to their neighbour and so on round the circle. At the end of the circle a pile of cards which have been right round builds up and in extreme cases it is turned over and used once the original pile is finished. The game gets faster and faster as the cards are passed around, and as soon as someone has 4 cards the same they grab a spoon, at which point whoever is paying attention grabs another spoon, and the slowest person who is left without a spoon is out. You keep going until a winner emerges.

Lovely afternoon, lots of camera fun taking pics of the young folk from church killing each other on the trampoline, some really fun action shots, and who cares about health and safety, it's youth work! Laughed long and loud, and no-one broke any bones or died, so all in all a success :) I am joking by the way, in case you get worried!
