My life, my lens

Columbia River

Vernon to Revelstoke was our journey today. We had our breakfast sat overlooking Swan Lake and the sun was shining and glimmering across the water.

We were soon packed up and back on the road. The highway was clear so we made good progress through to our first stop in Sicamous. Its been a beautiful day so we walked along the small beach and sat overlooking the lake for a while. The main industry in Sicamous appeared to be tourism and hiring out house boats for the season. The house boats are huge with two floors and water slides hanging off the back.

We were soon back on the road until our second stop at the Crazy Creek waterfall and suspension bridge. It was a short walk up to the 240ft bridge which was built over the waterfalls. It was good to see the falls but not worth the $5 each they charge when the season starts.

We then carried on up to Revelstoke and had a late lunch at the 3 Valley Gap resort which I thought looked an eyesore in such a beautiful setting but Matt liked it. We than carried on to Revelstoke to have a look around and get some more supplies.

We did a quick walk along the Columbia River and saw an otter fishing. It was so great to see one in the wild as the last one I'd seen was in the Vancouver Aquarium. I could have stood for ages watching him go about his business without a care in the world.

We then had to drive back on ourselves to get to our camp site for the night. The owners of the site must be a little bit crazy as they are building themselves an Ark! Its three stories high and one whole floor is going to sell frozen yoghurt. We are the only people staying here so had the whole place to ourselves.
