Yes, you actually do need planning permission in Guernsey to put up a flag pole. It took longer to get permission for this than for a house to be built !

We have had the pole for 7 years - and when trying to put the flag up last weekend, the whole mechanism at the top fell apart and almost knocked me out.

The new bit arrived today - and we are flying the Guernsey flag once again.
