It's just a number...

You don't see many of these, in fact I haven't seen any at all together. Take a close look and spot the similarity...

Both motorbike and car have the same registration numbers (we use numbers here in Guernsey), because motorbikes and cars have different registers. The lower the number, the higher value the number plate can be; four digits are not expensive, unlike single or double digits.

Buying a car today, for example, it will come with a five digit number plate, e.g. 75432. However, every now and then we have public auctions, where the lower number plates do come up for sale, and they sell for a small fortune.

A bit more information on our number plates:

The number 1 plate is on the Bailiff of Guernsey's car (Chief Judge)
The Lieutenant Governor (the Queen representative) has a blank number plate, his personal car has G1 and his wife's car has G2
