Samurai, aye?

And in the blink of an eye, the Family Dog bounces from Ida's first birthday to Arlo's 4th. In fact, in a blink of an eye we've gone from this birth day, to this birthday, to this birthday and then this.... Arlo's birthdays are always bitter sweet for me. I try not to get pensive about them, but nothing proves the onward march of time more than another round of the Happy Birthday song to the boy who somehow manages to break my heart whilst puffing it up with love at the same time.

I might find it bittersweet, but Arlo (thankfully) has no such desire to wallow in the negatives of birthdays. He's delighted to be celebrating, delighted by the presents, delighted by the long expanse of birthday adventure stretching out before him as he runs through to our room with his crazy hair, twisted jammy bottoms and a look of sheer delight on his face - leaping onto our bed to roar 'it's my biiiirrrrrttttthhhhhdaaaaaaay!!!!!'

We had a beautiful day. A perfect day. A very happy birthday.
