Quiet Times - Dido

Quiet Times indeed at Blackness Castle where this pier has been renovated, providing a superb view back towards the castle as well as a look down the firth to the two current Forth Bridges.. Quiet because there are so few visitors on the chilly May morning; quiet because it is no longer a fearsome stronghold against 'the enemy'; or a military garrison; or a prison housing Cardinal Beaton; or a project for James V and his daughter Mary Queen of Scots ; or an ammunition store.

Quiet Times indeed for a really interesting visit. Do think Historic Scotland could give this gem just a wee bit more tlc, like nearby Linlithgow Palace or indeed Bothwell Castle .
